
Trauma to Healing…the Transformation Trajectory
This one-day in-person workshop will provide practitioners with increased understanding of the impact of childhood trauma, the neurobiology of trauma and how it manifests biologically. By using the internationally acclaimed TECA tool, practitioners will learn how to provide therapeutically matched responses which are adaptable to the context of your role. This assessment can be used by ANYONE and provides activities which offer opportunities for relational repair and enrichment.
The workshop also explores the impacts on practitioners working in the context of trauma and provides strategies and insights to support wellbeing. A model of ongoing reflective practice to embed the learning from the day will be offered to post workshop to all attendees.
Reflective supervision will be offered on-demand to support individuals/teams to shape and strengthen their models of practice with children, young people, families, and communities.
Learning Outcomes
- Increase understanding of the impact of Childhood Trauma:
- Define developmental trauma and recognise its physical, emotional, and relational expressions.
- Explore the impacts on the neurobiological and Autonomic Nervous Systems and how they manifest behaviourally.
- Discover what is considered current best practice in trauma healing approaches
Trauma-Informed Care:
- Explore the principles and components of trauma sensitive practice.
- Recognise the importance of relationally safe approaches in trauma responsive approaches.
- Implementing Relational Neuroscience into your practice
Impact of Trauma:
- Identify the developmental consequences of trauma on children’s global wellbeing
- Trauma Assessment:
- Discover the TECA tool, and how to assess and respond to behavioural trauma expressions.
- Practice conducting trauma-sensitive assessments by using the TECA tool to assess and respond to behavioural trauma expressions and identify appropriate strategies.
Self-Care and wellness:
- Recognise the potential individual impact for practitioners working with trauma survivors.
- Explore concepts of Organisational Stress and develop insight and strategies to support personal well-being while providing trauma support.
Building a Trauma-Informed Environment:
- Apply trauma sensitive principles to various situations, to create supportive and empowering communities for practitioners working with those impacted by childhood trauma.
