Supporting Children with Complex Needs

This workshop will unpack some of the issues around working with children who are experiencing complex needs, including anxiety, trauma and challenging behaviours.  It will also unpack some of the interplay between the child, parents and siblings, and provide participants an overview of brain development and practical strategies.  The workshop will also provide participants an opportunity to reflect on their values and ways that they may help or hinder their clients.

This face-to-face workshop will be interactive and participants are asked to come with particular examples in mind, where possible.

 Learning Outcomes:

  • Increased confidence in skills in understanding the biological and social constructs of children’s complex needs;
  • Increased ability to engage parents effectively, and
  • Increased understanding of appropriate referral pathways.

Who should attend this workshop?

TEI funded and all other community services

Acknowledgement

LEAD acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land we gather and work on, and the land that you are on while visiting our website. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the cultures and hopes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the nation. A better understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures develops an enriched appreciation for Australia’s cultural heritage and can lead to reconciliation. This is essential to the maturity of Australia as a nation and fundamental to the development of an Australian identity. Understanding and respect are guiding principles of LEAD’s Reconciliation Action Plan.
