Spirited Conversations
Over the last decade research in the field of trauma has concentrated on the effects of trauma on the physiology of the brain. This workshop expands on this essential knowledge and focuses on diversity of wisdom.
You will explore the effects of trauma in a socio-political-spiritual context and invite the audience to think about what feeds people’s resilience and survival when their thoughts, feelings and spirits are stirred up by trauma.
Learning Outcomes:
- Increased ability to articulate the importance of critical reflection and locating and deconstructing one’s own world view;
- Deepen awareness of the diversity of bodies of knowledge that stretches beyond the narrow confines of a Western scientific paradigm;
- Apply critical analysis to which theories and practice hold meaning for clients, and
- Increased ability to articulate socio-political-spiritual contexts of people’s lives and the need to engage with these contexts in daily practice.
Who should attend this workshop?
Community sector professionals including managers, team leaders, individual and peers support workers, caseworkers, counsellors, social workers, community development workers and other practitioners who directly support vulnerable children, individuals, families, and communities.
