Key Concepts in Talking to Parents About the Hard Stuff ©

Sometimes we need to tell parents and carers some things that we know they will find hard to hear, perhaps about their child’s development or behaviour, or the parent’s approach to parenting or discipline, or perhaps where we have concerns about what might be happening at home.

The one-hour online course is designed to provide Proficient Teachers with an overview of the techniques and strategies that help increase confidence when engaging with parents/careers during difficult conversations.

Based on our popular one-day workshop, this online course offers practical strategies for managing challenging conversations whilst maintaining respect and professionalism, as well as a framework to assist Teachers to identify ways of promoting parent’s readiness to hear difficult messages.

Suitable for Proficient Level Teachers who teach students in Early Stage 1 to Stage 6.

Acknowledgement

LEAD acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land we gather and work on, and the land that you are on while visiting our website. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the cultures and hopes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the nation. A better understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures develops an enriched appreciation for Australia’s cultural heritage and can lead to reconciliation. This is essential to the maturity of Australia as a nation and fundamental to the development of an Australian identity. Understanding and respect are guiding principles of LEAD’s Reconciliation Action Plan.
