Epigenetics: Destiny’s Child – Understanding ways of Working with Intergenerational Trauma

Explore the topic of Epigenetics through three lenses: The Biology, The Impact and The Practice.

Through this Online Workshop, you will start by gaining an understanding of how individual, cultural and societal experiences permeate our biology.

We then refer to recent research to make sense of the impact on our bodies, behaviour and bonding.  We learn about epigenetic transmission and how may change the way we work.

This training finishes with how can we make a difference with the children, families and communities we work with every day.  We identify what protective factors can be used and how we can create activities to reduce risk.

REGISTER NOW! PLACES ARE STRICTLY LIMITED TO ENSURE THAT YOU EXPERIENCE A HIGH LEVEL OF ENGAGEMENT AND INTERACTIVITY.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Increased confidence and skills using epigenetic research findings and applying that knowledge to inform practice;
  • Increased knowledge in the impact and implications of epigenetics, and
  • Increased understanding in everyday practice that can be used to influence the negative and positive impact of epigenetics.

Acknowledgement

LEAD acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land we gather and work on, and the land that you are on while visiting our website. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the cultures and hopes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the nation. A better understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures develops an enriched appreciation for Australia’s cultural heritage and can lead to reconciliation. This is essential to the maturity of Australia as a nation and fundamental to the development of an Australian identity. Understanding and respect are guiding principles of LEAD’s Reconciliation Action Plan.
