Culturally Safe Work Environments: for non-Aboriginal organisations who have Aboriginal staff members

Aboriginal staff bring unique skills and perspectives to their workplaces. While there is a large focus on providing a culturally safe environment for clients, organisations must also be mindful to provide a culturally safe work environment for Aboriginal employees.

This Online Workshop will introduce cultural safety with a special focus on culturally safe work environments. It will provide strategies for non-Aboriginal organisations and employees to develop and contribute to culturally safe environments.

 Learning Outcomes:

  • Increase knowledge of cultural safety;
  • Understand the importance of culturally safe environments for the Aboriginal workforce;
  • Develop strategies for organisations to develop culturally safe environments’ and
  • Develop strategies for employees to contribute to culturally safe environments for their Aboriginal colleagues.

Who should attend this workshop?

For non-Aboriginal organisations who are supporting/working with Aboriginal clients in the Western Sydney Nepean Blue Mountains Area.

Facilitator

Dr Lana Leslie: is a Kamilaroi woman, Founder and Principal Consultant of Lana Leslie Consulting, an Aboriginal Consultancy business specialising in leadership and strategic planning, Cultural support and advice, education programs and research. Lana Leslie Consulting works to support Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal leaders and organisations to develop culturally responsive staff, policies, and practices. Lana has a PhD in Human Geography (Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing), a Master of Social Science and a Bachelor of Social Science.
