In January 2018, the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) took over the governance of Professional Development for NSW Teachers. All NSW teachers are now required to be accredited (at either Graduate, Proficient, Highly Accomplished or Lead teacher level). To maintain their accreditation, teachers must undertake mandatory Professional Development. For Proficient Teachers (the largest group) this entails 100 hours over every 5-year maintenance block. Of that 100 hours, 50 can be teacher identified, but the remaining 50 MUST BE DELIVERED BY A NESA ENDORSED PROVIDER
LEAD PDA is a NESA Endorsed Provider.
LEAD will deliver similar events for teachers that align to our core activities that we currently deliver. Our “Teacher Enrichment” courses (which will be at AQF 5 or above) will cover a wide range of non-curriculum based topics that must be mapped against the 7 NESA Teacher Standards. Examples of the type of workshops we will offer include “Accidental Counsellor”, “Talking to Parents about the Hard Stuff”, “The Trauma Informed Classroom” etc.
We are keen to build up a range of workshops we can offer – which requires us to map the learning outcomes against the quality standards. Once each course has been endorsed by NESA we can start delivering to this very large pool of participants.
If you are interested in finding out more, and you believe your current courses can be tailored to meet the needs of teachers and you would like to be considered to deliver your course as part of our NESA business, please complete and submit our EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FORM, or contact our CEO Kerry Palejs on 0425 387 833, or email@example.com
