Harmony Day – a celebration of cultural diversity for everyone who calls Australia home.
Tuesday, 21st March marks the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, an opportunity to bring people together to talk and share stories.
Let us all celebrate the fact that Australia is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world— with just over one in four of Australians born overseas and around 48 percent have a parent who was born overseas.
At LEAD, we commit ourselves to constantly learning and bettering our understanding of the diverse population that makes up Australia, one of the most multicultural countries in the world and we encourage our colleagues in the Community Sector to do the same.
In LEAD’s continuing efforts to support community service organisations and the community sector workforce, we facilitate a range of professional development opportunities and learning experiences that focus on cultural awareness, responsiveness, inclusivity and education. In fact, just last week we held a 2-day conference which focused on ‘hand-in-hand’ collaboration and bridging gaps between diverse communities …. an occasion for celebration of collective learning, opportunity, hope, and new beginnings.
“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.”… Edward Everett Hale
