Navigating the space between counselling and being ‘on the spot’.
Develop your strategies to assist you when you are tasked with providing ‘accidental’ counselling to other teachers, parents and carers who may be experiencing distress, strong emotions and concerns.
This course recognises and builds on the strengths that teachers bring to their role but where they have not been formally trained in counselling.
This NESA endorsed workshop will help to increase your confidence in using an evidence-based framework to proactively engage with parents, carers and colleagues in times of distress.
The use of an informal counselling framework can positively contribute to maintaining student safety by being able to engage effectively with parents and carers where the student’s well-being and safety may be at risk.
Strengthened relationships supported by effective counselling strategies will help you to provide open and transparent feedback to parents and carers about their child’s achievement. Your improved counselling skills will help build your leadership capability and enhance your career progression.
Who should attend this workshop?
