It was a great experience attending the Baabayn Aboriginal Corporation‘s NAIDOC celebration. The theme for this year, “FOR OUR ELDERS,” is a way for us to continue showing respect and admiration for the knowledge, wisdom, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders . Attending this event provided a great opportunity for me to connect with the local Aboriginal community members, learn about their customs and traditions. I also had the joy of catching up with representatives from some of LEADโ€™s member organisations – Junaya Family Development Services, Mission Australia, Meca Mount Druitt, and Blacktown Area Community Centres Inc. – BACC.
